What would we expect from a film directed by Tom Ford?! ... Well us fashion lovers would maybe expect fashion, glamour, and style.However the Film 'A Single Man' (2009) is not like this at all. Its a story about a guy called George (played by Colin Firth) who's male partner tragically dies in a car accident. George reminisces throughout the film about his partner whilst he plans to commit suicide. The film cleverly uses different lighting effects throughout showing dull black and white tones when George is alone, then going into bright colour when his is in company. I won't ruin the ending but lets just say it doesn't end well!!
We watched this film at university and I have to admit that when I was watching it I did get a bit bored... although I was in a dark university lecture room at 7pm, anyone would be bored surly!!
However... I class a good film as one that I come away from thinking about, and this film was defiantly a thinker...!
Tom Ford although you didn't give us a fashion chickflic..... I still love you X
If you like Tom Ford then you must see this film, once you get past the strangeness of it I'm sure you'll enjoy it too :)
